Gesherim is the Hebrew word for “bridges”.  As 6th graders the bridge is being crossed from childhood to Jewish adulthood as well as from tweens to teens.  We believe that families are more important than ever in helping our children through this transition.

Gesherim invites familees to learn, celebrate, question, and engage in social justice together.  Although 6th graders do participate in weekly Hebrew classes they do not participate in the traditional Sunday Rimon program.

Gesherim families engage in monthly activities either at Temple Sholom or in the community once a month.  Additionally, Gesherim tweens engage in learning activities two times per month.  Family days will be alongside Rabbi Rigler, Cantor Marx and our Gesherim Coordinator.  Tween activities will be led by a dedicated 6th grade Gesherim teacher.  In addition, families will independently (with Rabbi’s support) work on a creative Torah “commentary” to be presented at one of two Gesherim Showcases.
